It isn't more expensive
Contrary to popular belief it is not more expensive to visit your local fitness dealer. They can be found in the Yellow Pages under Exercise Equipment retail (dealers) etc.. You not only will find that they have what you are looking for, the price point but you will also get the proper recommendation. This way you will not be paying $800.00 for a clothes rack. Be smart about your buying decision, buy properly. They have the same levels of pricing you will find from those supposed expert websites which are nothing more than a guy at home with a slick site that works on commission.Why Specialty Fitness?
Well, would you go to the grocery store to purchase tires for your car? How about your new flat screen HD T.V?
Fitness equipment is a specialized product. Sure you can buy some accessories without much hassle anywhere. But when it comes to treadmills and ellipticals, home gyms and more chances are you need proper advice. Why not visit someone that knows this in their sleep. People that work in the specialty industry.
Specialty Fitness can also help you finance the machines. Usually they have 3-6 month same as cash financing.
They can help you choose the right machine. By all means prepare yourself, bring web pages into the store and ask questions. Maybe you will find that you would be better off with a totally different machine.
How about my local sports store? In many small markets they ARE the Specialty Dealer and have quality equipment (quality does not mean more expensive ) so that would be your dealer. In larger markets, sports stores usually carry the low end stuff that is usually in disrepair and you have no help choosing the proper equipment.Quickly this becomes the right move.

This map is a work in progress. As we get more information it will be updated regularly. Those dealers that get more positive reports can and will increase their Star rating, those that get negative reports will lose Star Ratings. Check back often.
Who are these people?
It's a never ending issue in many industries. Websites pop up everywhere offering sales and services but who are they? We don't know either? Many are simple affiliate sites. A way for some manufacturers to increase their awareness on the web through these websites. Affiliate site owners get a commission on a sale, in the most part they drop ship direct from manufacturers or distributors that support this. Usually the bottom end of the quality level chain. (See review sites)
This site was started to combat this practice and help support the dealers and manufacturers that support this industry. People that know product and can properly advise and service. SPECIALTY FITNESS DEALERS and those manufacturers that support it.
A little history of the fitness industry
The industry started about 30 years ago with home gyms (usually they were chromed steel) that were made locally, dumbells, weights etc..
The first cardio machines were piston rowing machines (remember those?) and exercycles. Lifecycle (Now Life Fitness) had a very expensive bike that was sold and dealers found that there was a market for quality.
More stores opened as the working out at home trend was gaining momentum. As more products were available manufacturers could supply this new industry. Treadmills opened the dealers to a new level and it grew quickly from there.
The fitness industry used to be a continental industry. One where the US built all the equipment we see in North America and European manufacturers serve the Euro markets. But like all other industries we find that all manufacturers have a facility in Taiwan or China but still build higher end locally. All R&D is done locally as well.
In all markets there are specialty fitness dealers that sell, service and repair only fitness machines. The dealers have access to all of the products you can find and choose only to sell the ones that they know won't be a service issue. That comes from experience.
The Specialty Fitness dealer pays taxes in your community. They help manufacturers design the next new products and it is not any more expensive than trying to buy direct.
